Food Sensitivities/Allergies

About Food Sensitivities/Allergies

At Franklin Acupuncture, we offer comprehensive food sensitivity/allergy testing and treatment. Food sensitivities/allergies can present with a variety of symptoms, including the following:

Muscle and joint pain, gastrointestinal distress (diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, bloating/cramping), chronic fatigue, mental/emotional issues, chronic hives/rashes, itching, asthma, coughing, brain fog, headache, flushing, and insomnia.

It is often challenging to determine which foods are causing reactions. As an example, many individuals have difficulty using food elimination protocols to correctly identify which foods are problematic. Elimination protocols can be incredibly cumbersome and often do not lead to clarity for the individual.

The most common food sensitivities/allergies are eggs, cow’s milk, peanuts, fish, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, wheat, mammalian meat (alpha-gal), corn, and sesame. However, individuals are often unaware they are reacting to additional foods that are commonly considered hypoallergenic.

Treatment for Food Sensitivities/Allergies

At Franklin Acupuncture, we specialize in a treatment for food sensitivities/allergies called Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT).  SAAT was developed by Dr. Nader Soliman, an innovator in the field of auricular (ear) acupuncture. Compared to immunotherapies and other holistic therapies, SAAT has been found to provide the most effective results. Ultimately, the outcome of receiving SAAT for food sensitivities/allergies is complete elimination of the allergic reactions. We provide food sensitivity/allergy treatment for patients in Tennessee and surrounding areas such as Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, and Illinois.

In conventional medicine, there are several options to mitigate the severity of reactions, such as avoidance, immunotherapy (oral immunotherapy, sublingual immunotherapy), epinephrine, over-the-counter antihistamines (Allegra, Claritin, Benadryl, etc) and prescribed antihistamines (Xolair). Immunotherapies require an extended period of time to desensitize the patient. They also require that the patient is exposed to the allergen at small incremental doses. Epinephrine is intended to stop severe reactions once they have begun; it does not stop the reactions from occurring in the first place.

Elimination of food sensitivities/allergies utilizing SAAT does not require the patient to be exposed to the allergen(s). SAAT also does not require an extended period of time to address the sensitivity/allergy. Depending on what is found at the initial evaluation, the length of treatment is three to ten weeks.
